Reclaim Your Calling

Review this week’s message.

Key Scriptures

Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.
Ephesians 4:1 NLT

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:17 NIV

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.
1 Corinthians 1:26 NIV

But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”
Acts 9:15-16 NIV

... Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14 NIV

For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn.
Romans 11:29 NLT

... we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you ...
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 NIV

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What are some things you do when you start feeling physically or emotionally drained?
  • What’s your favorite way to recharge when you’re worn out?
Start thinking. Ask a question to get your group thinking.
  • God calls us to salvation, sanctification, and service. How does that influence the way you view your calling?
  • What are some ways your calling has cost you? How have you seen your calling sustain you?
  • God’s gifts and call can never be withdrawn. What, if anything, would change about your life if you focused on that truth more often?
Start sharing. Choose a question to create openness.
  • Has God ever called you to do something even though you felt unprepared? What happened?
  • What practical steps can you take to pursue your calling this week?
Start praying. Be bold and pray with power.

Father, thank You that the work You’ve given us doesn’t depend on our own abilities. It’s all dependent on You and our willingness to follow Your lead, no matter where You take us or what You ask us to do. Help us to trust that You’ve equipped us well and will always be with us. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Spend time this week asking God to direct you and sustain you as you pursue His calling.
