Facing Your Giants

Face the Giant

Review this week’s message.

Key Scriptures

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV

Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
Colossians 2:7 NLT

Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4 NKJV

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.

  • What’s the funniest fear you’ve ever heard of?
  • What’s your most irrational fear?

Start thinking. Ask a question to get your group thinking.

  • What fears are you facing today?
  • What are some ways you can turn your fears into faith?
  • Have you ever had a false belief about one of God’s promises? How did that affect you?

Start sharing. Choose a question to create openness.

  • Read Colossians 2:7. How can you let your roots grow deep in God?
  • Often, the emotions we feel in difficult situations are real but not entirely true. How can you align your feelings with God’s truth?
  • What’s one step of faith you want to take this week? What would you have to trust God with to take it?

Start praying. Be bold and pray with power.

Father, thank You for being so much more powerful than our fears. Thank You that we can rest in the knowledge that You will sustain our hearts and minds through every challenge we face. Help us to delight in You, and give us the desires of Your heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • Reading your Bible is a great way to learn to trust God more. Start a Bible Plan this week: www.go2.lc/findaplan
  • What are some ways you could make prayer a more regular part of your life?
  • If you have kids or if you’re around kids often, ask what they’re learning about courage right now.
