Devil Kicking

Relationship Goals - Discussion

Review this week’s message.

Key Scriptures

Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world ...
Ephesians 6:11-12 NLT

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:8 NLT

Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom.
Song of Songs 2:15 NIV

But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity ...
Ephesians 5:3 NIV

Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way.
Proverbs 4:14-15 NIV

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:12-13 NIV

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.

  • If you knew a thief was going to break into your house, what would you do in advance to protect it?
  • In this past week, what distracted you from being Christ-centered and mission-driven?

Start thinking. Ask a question to get your group thinking.

  • Define some choices that might lead someone toward temptation. What choices would lead away from it?
  • Read 1 Corinthians 10:12-13. Share some daily examples of what a way out might look like.

Start sharing. Choose a question to create openness.

  • Where are you most vulnerable to spiritual attacks?
  • What does slamming the door on temptation look like for you?
  • If you know where you’re vulnerable today, what can you do to eliminate future distractions and temptations?

Start praying. Be bold and pray with power.

Father, thank You for being our ally in our fight against temptation. Continue to provide us ways of escape from the things that tempt us, and lead us to make choices to eliminate the power of the enemy’s attacks. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • Create a plan to eliminate future temptations in your life. If you’re married, work on this plan with your spouse.
  • Praying daily is a great way to stay focused on God and away from temptation. Use this prayer to get started:
