When Anxiety Attacks

Not Afraid

Review this week’s message.

Key Scriptures

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:4-7 NIV

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:7-8 NIV

Discuss these questions with someone—maybe a family member, friend, or member of your LifeGroup. Use a communication method that works best for your situation.
Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What’s your current, go-to way of relaxing?
  • Once social distancing ends, what’s the first thing you’d like to do?
Start thinking. Ask a question to get your group thinking.
  • What’s stressing you out most right now?
  • What kind of lies do you think the devil wants you, specifically, to believe?
  • Read Philippians 4:4-7. What would be different about your life if your heart and mind were always guarded by God’s peace? How can you stay guarded?
Start sharing. Choose a question to create openness.
  • Describe a time when you saw prayer carry someone through a really tough situation.
  • How can you praise God in the middle of whatever struggle you’re currently going through?
Start praying. Be bold and pray with power.

Father, thank You that in times of anxiety or panic we can find rest and security in You. Help us to thank You for all the ways You’ve blessed us, even during tough times, and guard our hearts and minds with Your peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Reach out to a family member, friend, or neighbor this week and find out whether there’s some way you can safely serve them in the days to come.
