Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.

  • Rank how generous you are on a scale of 1-10. Why that number?
  • Who are some of the most selfless people you know?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.

  • Read Haggai 1:6. Have you ever been able to relate to this verse—or can you right now? How so?
  • What’s the scariest thing about giving more of what you have?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.

  • When is the last time you gave away so much it scared you? What happened next?
  • Do you currently have the bag, basket, or barn mindset? What does that look like for you?
  • What would it take to move toward the barn mindset? What’s a specific step you can take?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

God, You are a barn-blessing, big-hearted, and grace- filled God! We want to joyfully give our first and best back to You. Show us where we can give more extravagantly to others. Holy Spirit, give us the courage to grow in generosity. Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • What’s your next step toward the barn mindset? Say it out loud even if it scares you.
  • Ask God in prayer this week for specific opportunities to be generous. Then, obey and watch what He does.
