Grateful in the Grind

Review this week's message.

Key Scriptures

... whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV

For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
1 Corinthians 15:9-10 NIV

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me— the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
Acts 20:24 NIV

But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering ... I am glad and rejoice with all of you.
Philippians 2:17 NIV

What if?

  • Work is the reward
  • The prize is in the process
  • Be grateful in the grind

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.

  • What are you looking forward to in the next few days, weeks, or years?
  • What happened today that you’re thankful for?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.

  • Pastor Craig said, “The prize isn’t in what you accomplish occasionally; the prize is in what you do daily.” What does this bring to mind?
  • Read 1 Corinthians 15:9-10. What do you think Paul was trying to say here?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.

  • Pastor Craig mentioned three enemies of true reward: the pillow (comfort), the shiny thing (distraction), and the towel (quitting). Which do you need to fight most?
  • Read 1 Corinthians 10:31. What are some ordinary things you do that may actually be worship before God?
  • Share about a time you were ready to give up, but you somehow pressed on. What happened?
  • What good things are you tempted to quit? How can you let God’s purpose for them create passion in you?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

God, worshiping You is our purpose. We get to honor You with every single, little, part of our lives. All to give glory to You. Will You empower us to live this out, especially when we’re ready to give up? In Jesus’ powerful name, amen!

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • Define your purpose. Come up with a few short sentences to define what God has you here for.
  • Next time you’re doing something mundane, start praying and giving it to God as worship for His glory.
  • Finish and share the Selfless Bible Plan with friends:
