Parents, use this discussion guide to help you connect with your Switch student about owning their own spiritual growth. This month, your student will be working through a special printed Student Guide to work through some of the thoughts from the teaching. Encourage them to make good use of those and invite them to share their journey with you.
What’s one high and one low from this past week? How can God use both of those experiences to help you grow? (Starting with very open-ended questions may give your student the opportunity to share something you might miss with direct questions. Leave off the follow-up question if the conversation goes somewhere else.)
Read through James 1:2-5 together. What has God been showing you through this passage? (Processing Scripture together can be a great transition into doing Bible Plans or other devotionals together.)
How can I be a good parent to you during the trials you’re going to face? (Make sure to take notes of what they say so you actually follow up. This may be a way for them to test whether you’ll really do what you say. At this point in their development, being a good parent no longer looks like rescuing from trials, so this may be a good way to define your changing relationship in this season.)
