I’m Over It

The Grudge

Review this week’s message.

Key Scriptures

A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.
Proverbs 19:11 NIV

Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.
Proverbs 10:12 ESV

Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.
Proverbs 17:9 NIV

... Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.
Ephesians 4:2 NLT

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.

  • What’s the craziest holiday experience you’ve ever had?
  • What’s a small thing that always annoys you?

Start thinking. Ask a question to get your group thinking.

  • There’s always a gap between an action and our reaction. What do you usually put in that gap?
  • Read Ephesians 4:2. Share about a time when someone was patient with you when you messed up. How did the love they showed you affect you?

Start sharing. Choose a question to create openness.

  • Are you currently holding on to an offense? How can you make a conscious effort to let that offense go?
  • How can you more intentionally fill the gap with love?

Start praying. Be bold and pray with power.

Father, thank You for never holding grudges against us. Help us to follow Your example by letting go of offenses. Help us to see that our lives are too short and our callings too great to be offended by something small. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • Pray and consider whether there are any offenses you need to let go.
  • Be patient with others this week and give them the benefit of the doubt.
  • You don’t have to hold on to bitter memories and let painful moments steal your joy and weigh you down. Find out more in The Grudge Bible Plan at: www.go2.lc/grudge
