Miracles of Protection

When Pigs Fly

Review this week's message.

Key Scriptures

The LORD rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble.
Psalm 37:39 NLT

The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten with rods. After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully.
Acts 16:22-23 NIV

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.
Acts 16:25-26 NIV

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.

  • How has God been challenging your faith lately?
  • Have you ever experienced a miracle of protection? What happened?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.

  • Why do you think it’s sometimes hard to accept that God miraculously intervenes with protection?
  • What do you think some of our common misconceptions might be about God’s protection?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.

  • Pastor Craig repeated, “Before you face a problem, God has a plan.” Share a story of how this has played out in your life.
  • What problems and pain are you currently experiencing? What are some ways God could be working them together for your good?
  • What are you currently praying for protection from? How can we pray with you about it?
  • Read Acts 16:22-26. What do you see in this story that you can start living out? What’s your first step?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

God, You are a miracle-working God. We’ve read Your stories of protection in the Bible, and we’ve seen them in our own lives. We trust You to proctect us from what could destroy us and to expose us to what will grow us. Thank You for Your good plans for our lives. We love You. In Jesus’ powerful name, amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • Write down the miracle you’re asking God for on a piece of paper and exchange it with someone in your LifeGroup. Pray for each other all week.
  • Build your faith with the When Pigs Fly Bible Plan:
  • Read Amy Groeschel’s post about why and how she and Pastor Craig still pray for miracles:
